Volunteer General information

 Training for Service at AFC: 

• Host:   Zoom Role required to open meeting room and assign co-hosts. Monitors shares for the betterment of all participants and the group as a whole.  

• Chairperson:  Sets the agenda, Outlines the meeting, reads the AFC script, calls on participants to share, times shares, keeps meeting flowing.   (Due to the importance of this role, you must meet the requirement set by AFC.) 

• Co-Host: Arrives early to greet newcomers, answer any questions from members, assigns meeting readers, screen shares meeting readings, posts AFC messages in the chat box, and  assists the Chairperson as needed.   

• Security: Sets Zoom Security criteria, handles bombers/trolls, monitors muting/unmuting, sets meeting parameters outlined in our AFC Guidelines. 

• Celebrations:Welcomes newcomers, recognizes milestones and identifies sober celebrations. No prerequisite is required for this service work. .

To keep continuity, we require that all AFC Service Workers attend a brief training session. We will cover our AFC Mission and our method to having an inclusive/positive meeting. 

Our Mission: 

We are a group whose primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. We believe in creating a supportive and confidential space where participants gather in a safe space to share their experiences, find strength, and build a new life free from alcohol. 

Volunteer Criteria:

Chairperson: 6 months sobriety (minimum) 

Co-host: 6 months sobriety (minimum)

Security: 6 months continuous sobriety (minimum)

Celebrations:45 days continuous sobriety (minimum)

Admin-"HOST": 18 Months continuous sobriety (minimum)

***All positions require a brief AFC Service Worker training.
